Visits

At The Lions Foundation we think it is important to offer everyone the possibility to visit our sanctuary. It gives us the opportunity to educate people on nature conservation and provides the necessary funds to continue our work.

We are able to offer visitors accommodation, so that they can combine a visit to The Lions Foundation with a couple of days relaxing at Schrikkloof Private Nature Reserve, where we are based.

Schrikkloof Private Nature Reserve
The Lions Foundation is located in the magnificent Schrikkloof Private Nature Reserve, a 1200ha reserve in the Waterberg Biosphere. Guests are welcome to stay in our beautiful, African-style resort. Combine your stay with a visit to The Lions Foundation!

Book accommodation

Accommodation
Schrikkloof’s accommodation consists of ten fully serviced thatched suites with bathrooms en-suite. Six of these suites have outdoor showers in addition to the bathrooms. All suites have private decks overlooking a ravine of unspoilt nature.

Facilities
A full bar, lounge and dining area opening up onto a viewing deck are the focal point of social activities. At night, you can enjoy pre-dinner drinks and snacks around an open fire in a boma with a view.

Please note: Due to the slopes on which chalets were built, stairs between different floor levels may not make the accommodation suitable for physically handicapped guests.

Wildlife
Schrikkloof is a privately owned wildlife reserve in the southern range of the Waterberg. The estate covers 1200 hectares of natural landscape and lies in the centre of over 15,000 hectares of bushveld lodges.

Right now there are over 22 species of game roaming the farm including Buffalo, Eland,  Zebra and Giraffe. Schrikkloof is also home to a host of bird species, which is bound to intrigue the avid bird watcher. Free-roaming wildlife is abundant; sightings of porcupines, aardwolf, aardvark, bush babies and mongoose are common and even the elusive leopards have their territory in the area.

Schrikkloof is ideally suited for eco-tourism, offering clear views of game and an endless variety of natural habitat.
