Simba B Lions|The Lions Foundation
- Species: African lion
- Born: 2017
- Origin: Irak
- Living situation: with Stella
Simba arrived at Stichting Leeuw on 12 July 2019. He was kept in a busy market in Baghdad in a far too small cage.
The Dutch embassy/defense ensured that Simba was confiscated and could be temporarily admitted to a zoo. It took a while before Simba came to us, but by persevering and good contacts in Iraq, Simba came to the Netherlands.
Because Simba was very emaciated, they gave him a lot of food at the zoo in Iraq. Due to too little exercise, his muscles were not well developed and he actually was overweight. Simba therefore received a special diet and lion physiotherapy at Stichting Leeuw to strengthen the muscles (with the help of the hunting simulator). Now his weight is perfect and his muscle strength is good.
Simba has adapted very well, enjoys life in every way. Since lions are group animals, we paired Simba and Stella (a lioness rescued from Slovakia) after a short but calm introduction. Simba and Stella moved to The Lions Foundation in April 2022.
